MUMBAI: A 21-year-old student from Kanpur who was studying in a technical Institute in Chunabhatti was found dead recently. While deceased Ankit Singh’s family have alleged that he was killed in the hostel, Chunnabhatti police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and have claimed that he committed suicide.
According to the police, Singh, a topper from IIT Kanpur was pursuing higher studies and was staying in a hostel in Chunabhatti.
Singh’s mother said, “When we reached Sion hospital the police did not allow us to see the body and told us that he has committed suicide. When we told the police that we want to take his body to our hometown, they refused and without showing us the body he was cremated.”
Singh’s family have alleged that he was making some project on a rocket for which he was to get a contract of Rs 2 crore, and was killed. Senior police officials said that the postmortem report has confirmed that he died by hanging.
According to the police, Singh, a topper from IIT Kanpur was pursuing higher studies and was staying in a hostel in Chunabhatti.
