Mahindra Scorpio-N scores 5 stars in Global NCAP crash test: Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Swift, Ignis settle for just 1 star

Global NCAP has published the second set of results complying with its new and more demanding crash test protocols as a part of the #SaferCarsForIndia campaign. A total of four cars have been tested by Global NCAP this time around, namely Mahindra Scorpio-N, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Swift, and Ignis.
The Mahindra Scorpio-N scored full 5 stars for adult occupant protection and 3 stars for child occupant protection in the Global NCAP crash tests, scoring 29.25/34 and 28.93/49 points respectively. The bodyshell integrity of the SUV was rated stable. This puts the Scorpio-N among the safest cars in India, as tested by Global NCAP.

Talking about the three Maruti Suzuki cars included in the latest round of Global NCAP crash tests, the Swift, S-Presso and Ignis have all achieved just 1 star for child occupant protection. While the Swift scored 1 star for child occupant protection, S-Presso and Ignis scored 0 stars for the same. The bodyshell of the three Maruti cars were rated unstable, and not capable of withstanding further loadings.
The Mahindra Scorpio-N, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, Swift and Ignis join the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq to be the only six cars to be tested by Global NCAP under its updated protocols that assess frontal and side impact protection, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), pedestrian protection and side impact pole protection assessments.
